| The
NEMP assessments are conducted by experienced teachers, usually
working in their own region of New Zealand. Without
exception, teacher administrators report that they found their
training and assessment work very stimulating and professionally
enriching. Preference for appointment is given each year to teachers
who have not previously served as teacher administrators.
NEMP invites practising
teachers with primary or intermediate experience to apply for
positions as teacher administrators, working with either year
4 or year 8 students.
The period of secondment
to NEMP involves attendance at a three day training workshop, (in Wellington for Year 8; in Auckland for Year 4), followed by five weeks administering a variety of
assessment tasks in different schools. The Project meets the
full cost of teacher release, training and travel.
Year 8 administrators
are engaged from 18 August – 24 September 2010. (3 training days (Wellington) + 5 weeks in schools)
Year 4 administrators
are engaged from 13 October – 19 November 2010. (3 training days (Auckland) + 5 weeks in schools)
IMPORTANT NOTE:
In mid February 2010, the decision was made to revise and reduce the training week
to three days only
as opposed to five days. Note also that training for Year 4 administrators will be held in Auckland.
Applications are required
by 1 March 2010. Later applications will be
considered if there are vacancies.
