Commentary:
This task required students to distinguish between pictures showing events that are special to Spain and those that are common to many countries. This involved making decisions based on visual information and their own knowledge and understandings. The three special pictures were identified by a substantial number of students. The five pictures which were clearly not special to Spain were identified by 71 to 86 percent. Pictures 2 and 5 proved to be borderline, and therefore were not included in the number correctly classified.
