| Commentary: More than half of year 4 students and 74 to 93 percent of year 8 students could correctly locate Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Stewart Island. No more than 20 percent of year 4 students and 50 percent of year 8 students could correctly locate Waitangi, Mount Cook, Mount Taranaki/Egmont, Mount Ruapehu and Ninety Mile Beach. There was little change, at both year levels, between 2001 and 2005. |
