Commentary:
The graduated difficulty of the patterns worked very well. From pattern
3 onwards, about 20 percent more year 8 than year 4 students succeeded,
at least moderately well, with each pattern. That difference is reflected
in the percentages achieving total scores higher than 18 (about one quarter
of the year 4 students and 45 percent of the year 8 students). There was
no meaningful change between 2000 and 2004. |
