Oral Presentation   : Telling an Anecdote
Approach: Team
44k
Resources: None

Questions / instructions:

Seat the 4 students in a small U shape arrangement, so that the video camera is able to capture each student. Make sure their number plates are visible on the video.

In this activity I want each of you to tell the others in the team about something that has happened to you - something you probably will never forget. It might be something funny, something sad, something important, or something that was very serious at the time.
First think about something that happened to you at school. Spend a little time thinking about what you are going to tell the others. Something that has happened to you that you will never forget.

Allow a short "thinking time".

We'll start now with [name of student] and go around the group. Remember to tell about what happened, and how you felt at the time. Others can ask questions if they like.

Select a student at one end of the U, then move sequentially around the group.

Now think about something else that has happened to you, but this time not something at school. Spend a little time thinking about what you are going to tell the others. Something that has happened to you that you will never forget.

Commentary: This task assessed the same skills as the Chit Chat task, but in a different setting (team rather than one-to-one) and with a more directed focus for what students were asked to talk about.
